When the Heart Speaks
By
Julian Mercer
❧
When the heart speaks, it does not shout,
it murmurs like a rising tide
upon a tranquil shore at dusk,
with nowhere left for doubt to hide.
It names you in the sudden pause
before the evening candles flare,
it leaves its traces on my wrist,
and writes your beauty in the air.
Let all the world debate in haste,
let time run onward to the sea;
when your soft gaze turns to mine,
all eternity belongs to me.
Curator's Note
