Rain Against the Attic Glass
“The roof knows the exact measure of November, dripping softly through the eaves as if counting the years since your voice was here.”
Type Scale:
The roof knows the exact measure of November,
dripping softly through the eaves
as if counting the years since your voice was here,
one cold, deliberate bead at a time.
dripping softly through the eaves
as if counting the years since your voice was here,
one cold, deliberate bead at a time.
I have built a life out of small permissions:
permission to sit beside the cold pane,
permission to let the tea steep until bitter,
permission to remember without falling apart.
permission to sit beside the cold pane,
permission to let the tea steep until bitter,
permission to remember without falling apart.
Outside, the slate roofs gleam like dark mirrors
reflecting a sky that refuses to decide
between daylight and the early blue of dusk.
We are all waiting for the sky to clear,
and yet, the grey is the only honest thing left.
reflecting a sky that refuses to decide
between daylight and the early blue of dusk.
We are all waiting for the sky to clear,
and yet, the grey is the only honest thing left.
